Pathe cherry-picks Cannes' 'Cheri,' 'Sticks'


May 30, 2008 Pathe International swept the Cannes market with sales of Gallic fare including Stephen Frears' "Cheri" and French record-breaker "Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis" (Welcome to the Sticks) to major territories, the sales company said Friday. Etienne Chatiliez's musical comedy "Agathe Clery" and Nicolas Bary's debut feature, "Trouble at Timpetill," were snagged by a slew of territories. Jacques Perrin and Cluzaud's "Oceans," picked up pre-festival by Disney in the U.S. also was a popular title, as were musical "Faubourg 36" and "Mes Amis, Mes Amours" based on Marc Levy's best-seller.
